University Cleaning
As a professional cleaner of schools and universities, we know discretion is of the utmost importance to our cleaning clients in Manchester.
School Cleaning: Each month we are contacted by schools and universities, who are concerned about possible inspections as they become increasingly aware that the school’s environmental performance i.e. ‘cleanliness’ is contributing to a growing number of Grade 4 (Inadequate) failures. With this in mind, we have seen our school cleaning clients grow each year.
Gym Cleaning: Cold and flu viruses can live on hard surfaces for up to 24 hours while some stomach bugs, such as norovirus, can live on surfaces for over a month. The bacteria that causes MSRA can live on surfaces for weeks and has been known to thrive in locker rooms and gyms. The spread of these germs can be stopped by consistent cleaning and disinfecting of all high touch points on fitness equipment, mats, and weights.
Equipment cleaning – Having disinfectant wipes and sprays on hand for gym members to use before and after use of equipment will help to slow the spread of germs, but oftentimes, the germs aren’t fully killed. Having scheduled times for staff to fully sanitize all touch areas on the equipment is important, as well as making sure wipes and spray bottles are accessible and stocked around the facility.
Floors – Make sure to vacuum frequently and quickly remove any spills. Backpack vacuums are an efficient and non-intrusive way for staff to remove debris from flooring throughout the day. Having rubber matting at the door and air movers on hand during the winter months will help keep members safe and from tracking in debris from the outdoors.
Have rubber floors in your fitness centre? Rubber is a popular, durable type of flooring found in many gyms, but it can be tricky to properly clean. Read our 3-step process on rubber floor care.
Restroom/locker rooms – A clean restroom is important for any business. It’s even more important for a fitness facility. Bacteria and germs can easily be spread in the restroom area, on lockers, benches, and floors. Make sure to sweep the floors of debris throughout the day, consistently disinfect handles and benches, and the showers should be regularly sanitized throughout the day to prevent mould and fungus. By implementing a colour-coded cleaning system for microfiber towels, buckets, mops, and other tools you can better prevent the chance of cross-contamination and the spread of germs. All this though does not substitute for using a professional cleaning company like Excel!
